I may not be the best person to review a virtual foosball game--I'm horrible at the real world analog. I'm okay at guarding a goal, but when it comes to offense I'm purely in the "spin fast and hope" camp. Foosball for Two is for the serious foosball player--one who plays strategically. Each of the two sticks moves one pole of "kickers" (I'm sure there's a name for them, but I dont' know it). I was really confused at first, as I was trying to use my "poles" to block the balls that were hurtling towards my goal. The ball passes right through them, though.
After a few games of getting absolutely murdered by the computer (I'm talking shutouts here), I realized that the poles only collide with the ball when you pull the triggers to "hit" the ball. Knowing this, I played a few more games--and got murdered some more. Eventually I adopted a strategy of keeping the back row down at all times to defend and playing offense with the front row. I managed to score a couple goals, but the AI is just rediculously hard in this game.
I decided to give a human opponent a shot, so I called in my roommate. When he saw what I was playing, he did a double-take: "I played this game a couple of days ago, and it sucked. I played it for like 15 minutes and only managed to score a couple of goals." We did end up playing a few matches, but the winner could've been determined by a coin flip. One of the main joys inherent in video games is the sense of agency which comes from mastering a set of systems. There's no agency in this game. Sure, you can move some poles up and down and use them to "kick" at a ball, but we both felt like our actions had no bearing on the outcome of the matches we played.
From a purely graphical standpoint, there's nothing to write home about. Several of the backgrounds we saw were really busy, which made an already hard task even more impossible. Steer clear of this one--it's not worth the points.

yeah, not having collision unless youre pulling the trigger is pretty weak shit. and the computer is such an unforgiving rat bastard. i guess its a little more fair against a human opponent, as you're both equally confused.
I've played this foosball game with some friends and we enjoyed it quite a bit. Don't really see why you couldn't get the hang of it. I mean for the price we had a pretty good time, even my mom had fun with it! Guess it just depends on what type of game you like.
